While most landlords (large and small) take pride in ownership and like to maintain value, there are always some who just want their rent and collect, skipping the on-going maintenance.

Is the landlord responsible for separating the utilities if you are renting a duplex?
Our duplex has shared bills with the other unit. We have no course of action when our neighbors refuse to pay and the landlord does not want to get involved.
the landlord is reponsible for the bill being split between the two apartments. I personally just moved out of a duplex were the same instance took place and my landlord made sure that the upstairs tenants which had two occupants living in it, and our apartment had four occupants, that we paid more because we used more. the landlord sent the total bill to each of the units which showed how much we paid and the occupants upstairs had to pay. the landlord split the bill 70%/30% obviously us paying the 70% because we had more people. if you have a good landlord he would gladly do this to stop any future complaints about this situation. i hope this helps your situation... it worked for us... IS THE LANDLORD RESPONSIBLE FOR PREVIOUS INFESTATION OF BED BUGS. MY BEDS ARE RUINED,ALL THE CLOTHES IN THE HOUSE HAD TO BE WASHED AND THE FURNITURE HAD TO BE THROWN OUT. AND HE STILL ASKING FOR THE RENT MONEY. AT WHAT POINT HE IS RESPONSIBLE? OR IS HE?
is the landlord responsible for fixing the air conditioner...I have been here 2 years and getting ready to move out..Last year i had a rat probloem and it got into air connditioner unit and ate up the wires and now that im moving out she said i have to pay to get that fix..
